Random Updates from Liz

It’s hard to believe that I haven’t written a blog post since February. I thought I had – it’s kind of like when you text someone back in your head only to realize you didn’t actually type it and hit send. I have been busy though, and some pretty awesome things have been going on.

  • I actually finished editing and published Straddling the Middle (StM), my first novel. I started writing it in November of 2016 during National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), and then I kind of dragged my feet on editing until November 2018 when I decided I was done with this book and it had to go. StM was published December 17, 2018 in both Kindle and paperback and you can check it out (and order if you’re so inclined) here. My Mom got the first paperback copy in the mail yesterday. I'm kind of jealous because mine won't be here until today.
  • I spent November 2018 participating in NaNoWriMo again, and my second book, This Life, will come from that month’s work. I’m excited. It’s totally different from StM. I’m kind of in love with it.
  • Christmas is tomorrow. One of my favorite parts of Christmas is seeing people’s reactions to their gifts. I’m looking forward to seeing how the boys (and Mike) respond to their gifts. I’m hoping my parents enjoy theirs too. We’ll be celebrating Christmas Eve with friends and family tonight, and it should be equal parts chaotic and fun. Chaotic because of all of the people and multiple kids that are probably all hyped up but also tired. We all know those things don’t work well together.
  • I’ve been sick for what feels like months. Right now I feel pretty OK. New Lupus meds and some antibiotics have helped. I will admit though that having an autoimmune disease and changing seasons are not my favorite parts of life right now.
  • Have you seen The Office meme apologizing to Jesus because Dwight’s family didn’t do tequila shots on Christmas morning? I’m totally pondering grabbing some tequila today and starting this tradition at our house. For the adults of course.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable holiday. Whatever you’re celebrating and whomever your with, be present and appreciate the experience. If you’ve experienced a loss this year, I hope you know my hugs are here for you and I hope that you are able to remember the good moments with your loved one.
